Lumison is the moniker of Glasgow based musician and composer, Hamish Macleod. Originally from the Hebrides and well versed in Scotland’s native music, Lumison populates his world with dusty synths, tape hiss and live instrumentation, drawing on a palette which nods to both his island heritage and the outward-facing approach of UK beat culture.
Having spent years working in Scotland’s constantly shifting folk scene with the band, Inyal, Hamish began creating under the moniker Lumison to further explore the border-less world of electronic music, honing his studio craft in order to create sprawling, ethereal productions.
BBC Radio Scotland described his latest EP, Beacons, as comprising “masterful soundscapes and samples.”
When the music is at its most dense, swirling keyboards, warped guitars and organic textures coalesce to form expansive and cinematic landscapes. In other places, artists from all corners of Scotland’s music scene are given room to deliver exciting performances which sit carefully balanced against the fine detail of Macleod’s work.
